Glacier Episode II, Attack of the Incredibly Long Day pt. 2
<== After our long hike, we decided to take a drive along Going to the Sun Road. This is supposed to be one of the most beautiful drives in the world, and is an attraction unto itself at Glacer. Unluckily, a large part of it was closed due to snow (they had like 40ft deep snow drifts to plow through still in July!). It was disappointing that we couldn't do the whole thing, but we decided to walk a little bit of it...
But first, a moment for contemplation in the heart of Glacier... ==>
<== The road...
Ends here... ==>
<== At the Jackson Glacier overlook...
Walking past the "road closed" sign... ==>
<== It's a great view...
With the Paramount mountain the in background? At least Tom seems to think so... ==>
<== We would have more pictures from walk down the road, but a park ranger stopped everyone that walked past this sign (including us)... LAME.
Oh well... got to snag a picture at Wild Goose Island in St. Mary's Lake anyways... this is one of the more iconic Glacier pictures you can take... ==>
Whatever. We took showers after... the whole East Glacier area apparently has ONE common use shower... we waited in line for like an hour... also, the chocolate coconut milk I got went bad... very disappointing... :( ==>
Dinner in Glacier... I got an emu burger... it was a bit dry and tasted like beef... not what I expected. We were all very enthralled with the IQ peg jumping game. Also we were terrible at it. ==>
<== But I did manage to buy a CAN of cabernet sauvignon for Thomas at the store... add that to the list... everyone was too tired after dinner to do anything, we just went back and fell asleep immediately... end of day 2!
ps.. this is a sample of how we all (except Joe) slept... I personally had on 2 tshirts, a long sleeved shirt, 2 hoodies, a beanie, 3 pairs of pants, and 2 pairs of socks, in addition to the sleeping bag... I think here Tom has 4 layers ready for the night...
